HOPING HATE IS SOMETHING MY DAUGHTER SARAH AND GRANDSON HARRISON AND YOURS ONLY LEARN ABOUT IN HISTORY BOOKS.

Sunday Night at nigh at 10 PM God has for some reason thrust me forward nationally as a chronicler of events of the Mother Emanuel Nine and their families. I am being interviewed by Bill Cunningham on a radio show heard in 250 Markets. http://tunein.com/radio/options/Live-on-Sunday-Night-p150723/

On Monday I will be on national Jewish Radio.

Frankly, I had backed away from my 30 year efforts in interfaith and  racial Harmony. Recent events beyond my control have thrust me back into the battle. Below are some notes I made for myself. I welcome your comments.

I queried one of my most vocal critics, sometime ally sometime  adversary ( he always privately puts me in my place) first. His reply is " Hey Howie – your thoughts are fine – share them.   Be blessed,"

1. Steeples line the skyline, not skyscrapers.

2. Our African American leadership is spiritually based  and while fighting hard for equal justice, equal education, and equal economic opportunity battle the Caucasian leadership without violence, I admire the African American leadership of the NAACP, the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, and groups like the local black lives matter. When hate merchants showed up in Charleston Pastor Dixon and Elder Johnson and others made it clear to the interracial interfaith community that outsiders are welcome to visit Charleston but had better not try to dictate how we should react, that we know how to react.

3. When any segment of our community is attacked the Democratic and Republican communities, the faith communities, and both the African American and Caucasian communities are not afraid to stand together. NAACP heads Dot Scott, Rev Nelson Rivers, Ed Bryant, Rev Joe Darby and the African American community and Republican Mayor Keith Summey, Democratic Mayor Joe Riley, Republican Governor  Nikki Haley, Chas County Chair Elliot Summey, and President Barack Obama might disagree on issues vehemently but all come together to form a team to fight evil. The political, African American, and Caucasian communities form one Charleston God team when tragedy strikes.

4. I have a problem delineating whether my thoughts are coming from God or just my ego, so I make it my practice to put my thoughts out there. If the thought is my ego people will realize that and disregard it. .

5, We Jews had an eye for an eye philosophy. We hated our enemies. We killed the enemy much like Isis today. Then this young Jewish guy taught people to Turn the other Cheek and to Love, not hate your enemy. 12 people followed Jesus closely as well as a growing faith community from a far. Then he was killed as this God based philosophy challenged leadership. The 12 followers kept teaching and Christian God based Philosophy spread like wildfire.

6. Nine African American worshipers were murdered by a follower of white supremacy while learning in  Wednesday Bible Study. An unthinkable tragedy was sure to start the race war the murderer wanted.

Then it happened.

No reality TV Show. No TV Drama to sell Fast Food and Pharmaceuticals. Just the families of the slain nine following to the letter Christ's teachings the nine slain worshipers taught them. They forgave the murderer one by one. Quickly turning the hate seething in our community into Love.

7. I wrote an Op Ed piece Murder in Charleston that had limited exposure on my Facebook Page.

A NYC Publicist friend of mine, Sandy Frazier asked if she could post it,  that a couple of radio stations might want to interview me since I was in Charleston. 18 Interviews later I have a very good feeling for the LOVE that the families have spread throughout the country.

On Sunday night I am booked on Bill Cunningham's Radio Show seen nationally on 250 radio stations.   This interview I sincerely hope will help spread the Goodness of the Mother Emanuel Nine and their disciples  eventually worldwide

8. We Jews are waiting for the Messiah to come. The Christians for him to return. Most faith groups, from the big five, all their denominations,  and every faith group you can imagine are awaiting Peace.

I think the Messiah was in that Church and is living in the hearts and minds to the Mother Emanuel Nine, their families, and everyone that learns of how Love under the most despicable circumstances trumps evil. I hope the Mother Enanuel Nine and their families usher in this Messianic era.

Howie Comen is not a member of the clergy or  an academic. Some of his close friends are however. He is just a poor Jewish Private Detective hoping his daughter Sarah and his Grandson Harrison grow up in a world where Hate is something they read of in History Books.
