SC AFL-CIO FAITH AND LABOR AND FRIENDS OF THE AFRICAN UNION JOIN WITH THE COMEN DETECTIVE AGENCY STOP THE SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE INITIATIVE

Putting We the People back in control of our destiny. Demanding the Recognition that "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness".

In South Carolina as in many other states, black students underperform in grades 3-8 at an 81% rate. This fuels the School to Prison Pipeline and causes incarceration rates that are 60% black. The inmate population has increased by 500% since the 1970s. This has led to a prison civil right health care crisis that in California has caused a three judge Federal Panel to take over the system

 Civil Rights Violations of Inmates in the California Prison System Below are two of the areas of concern backed by Supreme Court decisions on the national level as well as the work of a three-judge court in California. I am investigating a number of civil rights violations involving ten inmates (so far) in Lancaster, California prison alone. This investigation involves civil rights violations involving defense attorney actions as well as the neglect of prisoners' healthcare.

Health Services according to a three-judge panel (reiterating a quote from the Plata vs. Brown case in 2005 and 2013): "The prison medical delivery system is in such a blatant state of crisis that in recent days, defendants (the California Department of Corrections) have publicly conceded their inability to find and implement on their own solutions that will meet constitutional standards. The state's failure has caused a vacuum of leadership and utter disarray in the management, supervision, and delivery of care in the Department of Corrections medical system."
                  

INEQUALITY IS A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROBLEM.
 
 
We must turn back to the Launch of an international effort to recognize the Gullah Geechee's contribution to the colonies. This contribution to agriculture, music, cooking, crafts, fishing, and ecology was achieved under the most brutal conditions. We need to turn back to the Gullah Geechee Agriculture concept with a Community Garden International SC AFL-CIO Faith and Labor Committee initiative. 
 
Clemson University has offered to host the agricultural program. We can begin in our 46 counties in SC, Malawi, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Uganda, in Africa and Seatle, SC, Danbury, New Mexico, Chicago, New Hampshire, Mass, and Ct.
 
Our United States o-Chairs Bishop John and Mary Buluinda alongside our Africa Co-Ordinators Missionary Protas and Jane Bulinda head up our Agriculture programs already in operation. 
 
 
A two-month effort.
 
Weekly meetings to assess local problems and highlights the School to Prison Pipeline problem. Once identified the group will discuss and develop solutions.

WEEK 1 - Commissioner Edelblut and AFL-CIO Faith and Labor Chair along with SC AFL-CIO President send letters to the Secretary of Education in all 50 states and a handful of African nations offering the STOP THE SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE. 

A national business leader, possibly the Chamber of Commerce or National Rotary Club, and a Faith leader are recruited. 

Week 2 ZOOM Meeting with Education Chair of National/International Executive Committee, and all State Secretary of Education people that respond.
 

Participating AFL-CIO State Presidents and Secretary of Education people would appoint an Education, Labor, Faith, Business, and Rotary Club or Chamber of Commerce person to a state Executive Committee.

Week 5, 6, Develop solutions to these problems. Contact all many candidates for office to develop these solutions

ALL CONCLUSIONS AND COURSES OF STUDY ARE UP TO THE STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

Below is simply a suggestion

1. We can introduce the Career Pathway Education model where reading, writing, and math are taught in a number of Career Houses to demonstrate the practical application.
2. Houses can be in any number of Career Pathways - Education, Music, Science of Agriculture, Law/Government, Mechanics,
3. There will be a number of curricula for 6th-12th grade molded into state standards. There will be 14 semesters.
4. Each Career pathway can be developed in 14 semesters.
5. Competitions in academics ( Jeopardy Games, spelling bees, etc) and sports completion between each house in each grade.
6. Points can be achieved in academics and sports for rewards. Points can be earned by helping their communities after school.

FUNDING

Each Faith and Labr AFL-CIO Faith and Labor Committee will need to be funded by the Rotary Clubs, business, and Faith Communities with 1/3 of the local funds raised remain in the local Faith and Labor Committee with 1/3 to the state Executive Committee and 1/3 going to the National/International Offices of Faith and Labor.  

Committee salaries and expenses are to be determined by the national/international committee. 

I suggest we continue the Four Bulindas Co-Chair the US and Africa efforts with two AFL-CIO People ( men and women) designated as equal Executive Committee People. The National/International Faith, Business, Education, and Youth Committee members will coordinate with the local group.
