THE HEART, SOUL, AND SPIRIT OF AMERICA- 2001 and 2020

As we face unimaginable stress as the Coronavirus turns the economic, political, and spiritual upside down where current events affect our futures I thought back to my invitation to speak on the Diner Show broadcasting from New Bedford  Mass two years after 9/11. While being driven by NYPD around the restricted site of what once stood majestically the Twin Towers I saw this written on a building remains. Inspired by these words on my return to my cousin's home I researched the lives of some of those murdered by hate two years earlier. Proud to be working with Deborah Levine and our American Diversity Report's New Beginnings team in the US and Africa to continue to defeat the hate through music, art, local government

I hope what I saw then influences those that read this today.

DON'T MEASURE THE HUMAN SPIRIT BY THE SIZE OF THE ACT
BUT BY THE SIZE OF THE HUMAN HEART
FOR OUR SOULS CONTINUE AFTER THE FACT
AND OUR SPIRITS, SOULS, AND HEARTS NEVER PART

HOWARD GERALD COMEN

After a number of family members of those lost on 9/11 call Phil Paleogolis of the Diner Show asking for a copy of the poem, I made the presentation below.
