Twas the Night Before Christmas 2015

Twas the Night before Christmas
When out in the streets
Not a creature was stirring
Just armed and loaded heat

Children were huddled all snug in their beds
While visions of sugar plums dance in their heads

Their parents were huddled away from windows and doors
Ready to hunker down flat on the floor.

When out on the lawn their arose such a clatter
Dad eased to the window to see what was the matter
He peered through the blinds with rifle in hand
posting on tiered bags filled with white sand

Just then he heard gunfire and saw several flashs
Momma ran upstairs and to the  kids she did dash
and into the bathroom momma and kids cuddled
While behind the sand bags daddy huddled

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of midday to the theatre below
After the shots and sirens had disappeared
Dad saw red spots dotting the snow as he feared

On Paris, on Brussels, on Washington DC
On Charleston, on London, on Rome Italy
Fear replaced Joy, Love, Faith and Charity
Everyone Wondered where Christmas could be

Santa was watching from the North Pole
Watching CBS, CNN, and everyone's soul
He knew this Christmas required extraordinary means
So he added to the sleigh a few extra Beams

On December 24rth  he put things in gear
Filling the sleigh with toys and his peers
As he passed over the areas filled with murder and hate
A Chorus descended from up high on this date

The song was a simple one, with voices as one
True Faith doesn't recognize color, gender or guns
It doesn't recognize hate, murder, or war
It only recognizes things that soar

Surrounding the sleigh was a Chariot of Gold
and God himself was at the controls
Abraham, Moses, and Jesus were wheels
as was Mohammed, Buddhah, and all that heal

The Gita was represented, as was the Humanist and the Sikh
The only common denominator was an adherence to Peace
There were sixteen wheels of every faith
All working in unison all keeping pace

Looking ahead to the days that follow
The outcome depends on how many hearts are hallow
For the world evolves on everyone's free will
The battle for those hearts rages still
