GOD AND I
DON'T SEE EYE TO EYE

God and I Don't see eye to eye
on things ecumenical, spiritual or deprived
what is allowed in the name of man
turns my stomach, my heart and nothing I thought stands

As the rains rained down on Caroline
and man made roads and bridges failed
I saw the tears of God a sign
as nature reclaimed and God wailed

what I was led to believe was right
Uniting Faith into a whole
In heaven shines very bright
But on earth is not part of the human soul

Power Wealth and conquering lands
Is what's behind man's demands
hiding behind prayers and devotions
Only going through the motions

What i believed was my job in life
to struggle against hatred and man made strife
was something I made up within my mind
For man's inhumanity to man is too deep in mankind

You can't rent Peace with bombs and bluster
or buy peace piece by piece at a time
Religious robes confuse and fluster
As clergy try ivory tower climbs

You can;t prostitute peace with bunker bombs
You can't dictate holy words in the Psalms
or interpret Surahs in the Muslim Koran
to emanate hatred and deliver calm

So I retreat to more mundane pursuits
and overlook the  fables, parables and lies
While Isis executes, crucifies and loots
In the name of God while God Cries
Waiting for another sign
