WE DEMAND THOSE RUNNING FOR THE 119th CONGRESS SIGN A PLEDGE TO EFFECT SOLUTIONS TO THESE 9 ISSUES

WE DEMAND YOU AGREE

TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES

WE THE PEOPLE MUST STAND UP AGAINST THIS

ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY, & INEQUITY IN EDUCATION,

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, & JUSTICE

It is the will of the people, not a King, a group of selfish, greedy, politicians,

industrialists, or organized crime figures that make the law and policy.

When the will of the people is ignored in favor of one group

exercising authority over the masses inequity exists.

1. GUN VIOLENCE-

Problem

South Carolina’s gun death numbers are feeding on the poor among the

country’s worst, especially if you’re black.SC Public Radio Scott Morgan.

Marvin Gaye's plea to “Save the Babies” and stop gun violence has surfaced

40 years after Marvin, himself became a victim of gun violence.

Dr. Sesil Jenkins has suffered the death of a family member.

2. Assault on Democracy

Problem - Once the few take control of a municipality, a state, or a nation,

Equity is ignored in favor of power, greed, and the consent of the few.

A. Glenarden Maryland City Council has striped the Mayor of her budget and

powers.

 B. Black mayor in Alabama town ousted by predecessor.

Whenever any person has engaged or there are reasonable grounds to believe that any

a person is about to engage in any act or practice that would deprive any other person of

any right or privilege secured by subsection (a) or (b), the Attorney General may institute for

the United States, or in the name of the United States, a civil action or another proper

proceeding for preventive relief, including an application for a permanent or temporary

injunction, restraining order, or other order.

3. EDUCATION - A SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE Pipeline.

Problem - SEATTLE (CITC) A Seattle school board member is raising concerns that disciplinary practices in her

the district is contributing to the  "school-to-prison pipeline".

CHARLESTON -82% of black students in Public Schools underperformed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP86_RHk7B8&t=152s

Solution  -  A learn the practical application of reading, writing, and Math

 https://howiecomen.blogspot.com/2023/09/education-michelle-comens-middle-school.html

  B. Learn about outstanding citizens of your culture and the culture of

        others. https://adr-nb.org

  C. GULLAH-GECHEE CONTRIBUTIONS - Teaching how the Gullah

Gechee people contributed to the success of the colonies in

spite of the horrendous way they were treated.  Sherry Suttles,

Head of our Gullah Gechee group (the first black female to serve as

City Manager in the nation, and Ty Collins, Direct Descendent of

the enslaved companion, driver, and friend of Arthur Middleton

on his journey to sign the Declaration of Independence.

D. DUMBING DOWN OF BLACK STUDENTS The solution to the issue of
education with an emphasis on the school-to-prison pipeline is too simplified,
requiring only reading, writing, and math.  One of the major deterrents to the
education of Black children is the concept of the "dumbing down" of the Black
child with lower expectations and therefore placing the child in a position of learning
less and learning what is irrelevant to the interests and the possibility of success of
the child. In other words: the psychological sabotage of the child.

This issue was discussed in a recent discussion with young black professionals.
A friend was surprised to find that these Professional mothers are experiencing the
same problems she faced when her son started public school in the early eighties.
She had to go to battle to ensure her son received an excellent education.

We need to identify a professional group to join us who specializes in this issue
and whose primary purpose is to deal with this issue.

EXAMPLE:
Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis speaks at the
Philadelphia Marriott  Downtown on June 30, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Alot of crazy s--t has come out of Florida over the last number of years—see:
every headline that starts with “Florida Man… ”—but almost none of it compares
to what the Sunshine State came up with earlier this month when the Board of
Education approved a new set of rules requiring teachers to tell students  that there
were upsides to being enslaved. Yes, really: The state literally requires instruction
on “how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their
 personal benefit.”

Obviously, this is completely nuts, as is the fact that Florida governor and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has repeatedly defended the new curriculum standards, saying its authors “did a good job” and that it would be totally reasonable to “show that some of the folks…eventually parlayed, you know, being a blacksmith into doing things later in life.” To be clear, “the folks” the governor is talking about here are enslaved people, and he’s suggesting that there were positive trade-offs to being human property.

4. Stolen Gullah Geechee Heirs Property

Problem - Unscrupulous developers team up with well-placed politicians

and lawyers to steal and hide stolen Heirs' property.

In one case a developer hired the President of the local Bar Association

to hide stolen property in a hidden trust purchased through 75 shell

companies.

Solution Shame the culprits publically. :ttps://youtu.be/AycFmp5js

5. Underserved Farmers

Problem - The US Department of Agriculture purposely discriminated

against and discriminates against underserved farmers today as Jim

Crow America placed unreasonable requirements to vote.

In the Pigford discrimination cases in the late 1990s, USDA  required

unreasonable requirements to file discrimination suits, eliminating 66

Thousand underserved farmers.

Lawyers appointed by the Judges all got paid. A large number of

underserved farmers never saw a dime.

Today, in 2023, they require a 40-page application and don’t bother to

provide instructions. They offer help but you have to go on the Internet

or travel long distances to their offices. Many farmers are educated on

the farm, aren’t Internet-savvy, and can’t drive due to age.

Solutions- USDA needs to make applications more user-friendly and pay

these farmers, not the lawyers.

6. Gullah Geechee Contributions -

Problem DeSantis is wrong, To say Enslaved People benefited from slavery is idiotic. The Enslaved contributed much to the success of the colonies by teaching the colonists farming, fishing, Gullah crafts, folk beliefs, music, rice-based cuisine, and storytelling. Desantis- Time you went back to Elementary School.

Slavers took meticulous records that are maintained to this day as cooks, carpenters,

and any skilled slave was worth more.

Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

Solution - Educate this nation on the facts of slavery

7. Police Procedures Handling Mentally Challenged Citizens

Problem- Black Americans are killed at a much higher rate than White

Americans. Although half of the people shot and killed by police are White,

Black Americans are shot at a disproportionate rate. They account for roughly 14 percent of the U.S. population and are killed by

police at more than twice the rate of White Americans. Hispanic Americans

are also killed by police at a disproportionate rate. Washington Post 9.20.2o23

Solution - Proper police training. https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/

9.  Black Prison Populations -

      A. 60% of inmates in prison in South Carolina are
black. These are national problems no one cares to address.

B. Inmate Civil Rights -  Judges violate the civil rights of the incarcerated
